Our students and staff work together in an atmosphere of trust and respect; where each student is encouraged to ‘have a go’ and be an active participator in all aspects of school life. We provide a warm and stimulating environment that enables students to achieve high levels of academic, personal and social success.
Our aim is to produce well-rounded graduates with a global perspective on life. Our engaging and reflective learning environment fosters the continued development of our students as enthusiastic lifelong learners. We promote high standards of academic excellence, responsibility and citizenship in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Our Australian curriculum from Years 7 to 10 is based on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) framework. In the senior years (Years 11 & 12) our students complete courses of study accredited by the Australian Capital Territory Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS) and this enables them to access universities in Australia and worldwide. Our graduates have successfully completed tertiary studies in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, North America, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Singapore and elsewhere.
Ours is an inclusive school; students experiencing learning difficulties are an integral part of our school community. The integration of these students into mainstream classes, wherever possible, encourages their self-esteem and promotes the acceptance of diversity by all of our students.
The inclusive nature of our school is reflected in the strong community spirit which is a cornerstone of our philosophy. Concern for student welfare is of the highest priority. Our class sizes are kept small allowing teaching staff to be accessible to students and parents, and responsive to individual needs and concerns.
Prospective students and their parents who seek a quality education in a warm, welcoming environment are invited to come and see why our students enjoy attending AIS, and why our staff is so proud of their school.
