27 Oct 2023

Dear AIS Community,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our AIS Walkathan on last Saturday. It was wonderful to hear so much positive feedback from so many students and parents. I would also like to thank the PNF for donating fit bars for walkers. I am very keen to find out exactly how many kilometres we all walked together.

Ms. Jill would like to let you know that she has recorded all the student laps and calculated their walkathon totals on their sponsorship sheets. The sheets have now been returned to students in order for them to collect their money from their sponsors. We will be holding a Walkathon assembly to award our students for their great achievements in the upcoming weeks.

I have spent this week at the The East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) Leadership Conference in Bangkok. EARCOS is an organization of 214 member schools in East Asia who have a total of more than 177,901 pre-K to Year 12 students. It has been a wonderful opportunity to participate in workshops, keynote presentations and meet other school leaders from the region.

It has been another busy week at AIS Jakarta with our Year 10 & 11 students visiting BINUS University for a taster day and aptitude tests. Our Year 10 students and their parents participated in an information session and teacher meetings to support our students making their Year 11 subject choices.

I am looking forward to being back at AIS Jakarta next week for our Primary Book Week, Times Education University Fair, PnF Meeting and also getting back into the classrooms.

A new Book from AIS Teacher & Author, Mr David O’Shea.

Pic.pngAs our AIS Primary Book Week is coming up next week, I thought it was a great time to let you all know about our Year 6 Teacher, Mr David O’Shea’s 2nd children’s book, Slosh. Mr Dave will be reading, selling and signing his book next week. Please see the blurb below:

Follow Slosh’s extraordinary journey from a troubled childhood to triumph in this motivational success story. Through the great game of Australian Rules Football, Slosh and his friends learn the value of teamwork, perseverance, and self-confidence.

A heartwarming and inspiring story about a boy who overcomes his difficult past and learns to embrace the opportunities and joys of life. With its relatable characters, uplifting message, and exciting sports scenes, this novel is a must-read for anyone who's ever felt like an underdog.
