Dear Parents,
We have had another successful week at AIS with great learning happening in the classrooms; students participating in a wide range of CCAs; students training hard for the upcoming AISA Games in Saigon; Year 9 - 11 students and parents attending the Times Education University Fair that was hosted at AIS; parents and staff joining for a PnF Meeting and our Year 12 students continuing with their IB Diploma Exams. Our High School Student Representative Council (SRC) and supporting teachers will host a Halloween Movie Night for our high school students tonight. We are looking forward to next week's Primary Book Week which will culminate in a Book Character Parade during Friday's assembly. Parents are welcome to dress as their favourite book character for Friday's assembly.
We are pleased to welcome Connor (Preschool 3), Mackenzie & Charlotte (Year 9) and their families to AIS.
Online Safety
A number of parents have requested information and tips for ensuring their children are safe online. I want to direct parents to
one resource that I have used for many years, Common Sense Media. Common Sense Media is a leading nonprofit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of all children and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice. I have taught in schools that have used their Digital Citizenship Curriculum and found it to be a fantastic program. It also has a section for parents which includes FAQs and tips for different platforms such as Tiok Tok, Snapchat and Roblox. I have found the information on this site to be valuable and a great place to start discussions with our children. Common Sense Media also reviews and rates books, games and movies so parents can make more informed decisions about what they believe is appropriate for their children.
