SUPPORT SERVICES
We provide specialist support to meet the individual needs of our students
We recognise that every student learns differently and learning programs should be flexible andtailored to individual needs.
Our trained staff in Support Services provide specialist assistance to students requiring supportin the following areas:
- English as an Additional
- Language (EAL)
- Learning Difficulties
- Physical Disabilities
- Counselling
- Careers & Future Education
Prior to enrolment, some students are assessed to determine their need for specialisedsupport and the extent of that support.
The Support Services team works collaboratively with teachers and parents to provide aninclusive support network that allows students to learn within the mainstream with specialarrangements that focus on the growth of the individual and promote attitudes of self-worthand achievement.
Inclusion is the key to our special needs program at AIS, where students can access mainstreamclasses and participate in a wide range of curriculum options. Each student’s needs are assessedand Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) are implemented.
For students requiring teaching and support in smaller class environments, the Student ServicesCentre (SSC) is offered.
Our Support Services staff work at all year levels throughout the school to help cater forstudents’ individual needs. Students needing extra help can be identified by self-referral, parentreferral, teacher referral, testing or academic performance.
To ensure students receive the support they need, we monitor each student’s progress regularly,in consultation with classroom teachers and coordinators.
