WELLBEING AT AIS
An emotionally healthy school plays an important role in the development of a child by building a positive sense of wellbeing and a strong emotional self to help face life’s challenges with confidence.
If students are emotionally healthy and experiencing positive relationships at school, an increased academic readiness is evident.
Wellbeing Program In Primary School:
- Fostering a Positive Classroom Environment: Our classroom teachers create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, taking time to listen to each student and understand what they excel in and where they may need support.
- Emotional Literacy and Expression: Using emotional literacy programs such as Zones of Regulation teach students to recognise and articulate their feelings.
- Implementing mindfulness Activities: By incorporating regular mindfulness exercises such as deep breathing exercises or meditation sessions, students develop self awareness.
Wellbeing Support Team in Primary:
- The child’s classroom teacher
- Primary Coordinator
- Counsellor
- Where necessary - the Principal
It is important that if your child or you have any concerns about their child’s wellbeing, they must contact their classroom teacher as their first step. From there, the classroom teacher will then contact the Primary wellbeing coordinator and together an action plan will be developed.
