Lights, Camera, Action! AIS Film Festival Makes a Triumphant Return
The magic of cinema filled the air last Thursday, May 8th, as the Australian Independent School (AIS) film committee proudly hosted the return of the highly anticipated AIS Film Festival. The vibrant event, held at the Queen's Head in Kemang, brought together young, creative minds from AIS, The Singapore School PIK, and The British School Jakarta for an evening celebrating the art of filmmaking, all under the engaging guidance of hosts Milly Band and Maria Roman Santoso.
The festival showcased the impressive talents of student filmmakers aged 10 to 18, highlighting their unique perspectives and storytelling abilities. Across eleven diverse categories, over 50 young filmmakers were celebrated for their hard work, creativity, and dedication to the craft. Some of the evening's highlights included Chloe Christie's charming animation, CLARLY and Friends (Holiday in RUS Animation), and Freja Ronne's poignant documentary, Goodbye Jakarta.
The atmosphere at Queen's Head buzzed with excitement as students, parents, and educators gathered to watch the culmination of months of hard work. The diverse range of films on display demonstrated the passion and skill nurtured within these school communities.
The AIS film committee deserves commendation for their initiative in bringing back this important platform for student expression. By collaborating with The Singapore School PIK and The British School Jakarta, the festival fostered a spirit of camaraderie amongst the budding filmmakers.
The reintroduction of the AIS Film Festival marks a significant moment in celebrating the creative endeavors of our students, providing a valuable opportunity to share their stories and receive recognition. Congratulations to all the participants!
